About Us
Shelli Carlisle, Assistant Editor
Being adopted at birth and knowing my birth parents has put me in the unique position of experiencing three cultures. Texan, (yes Texans believe they are their own culture), Italian and Mexican. All three are very different and all are wonderfully rich and beautiful.
I grew up in Southern California and graduated from high school in the late 70’s at eight years old; which makes me still very young. I was born with this fabulous sense of humor, which believe me, if you’ve been to Texas, you need one. And, I love life.
Remember the Kids
I have three grown kids, two handsome boys and one lovely princess. Plus two fantastic grandsons (they think I am their older sister, because again, I am still very young).
Rat Race Found Her
I moved to the high desert about 19 years ago to get away from the rat race, unfortunately the rat race has found it’s way up here and life has become a lot more hectic the last few years.
She Actually Likes Other People’s Kids
About 10 years ago, I finally figured out what I wanted to do with my life. I love kids, go figure. And I especially have a heart for kids with learning disabilities. I am an Instructional Assistant in a local elementary school. I have been blessed to be able to teach kids who have learning disabilities.
I don’t get paid much and I donate a lot of extra time, but for me it is the most rewarding thing I have ever done.
I have learned so much from being around children, that my life is full of remarkable and memorable days.
Val Kilmer Helped the Artist Bloom
A few years ago I found a way to channel my artistic energies by doing some promotional videos featuring the phenomenal talents of Val Kilmer. Val has been a source of encouragement for me to step out of my comfort zone and take a chance by putting my heart out for the world to see and the response has been amazing.
As a result, I met Dawn Bonner. She saw something unique in my work and I in turn related to her vision for her magazine, Living Life…Boomer Style. I have been blessed to be included in her vision and assist her in her endevor. Looking back I realize every step I have taken has led me to the place I am now. I can’t wait to see what’s next.
Editor’s Note
Check out the great videos Shelli created for Val–he absolutely loves the videos. You can see why I chose her to be part of the team. Humor, beauty and bangin’ stylistic artistry. She is also fun to work with. At times we get to laughing so much, our families don’t think we are really working–but dedicated we are…hope you enjoy our new formatting and our promo videos–it is our teamwork that created these.
