Decorating Tips for Summer
Summer is a promissory note signed in June. It’s long days spent and gone before you know it, and due to be repaid next January.
~Hal Borland
A perfect summer day is when the sun is shining, the ebreeze is blowing, the birds are singing. And, the lawn mower is broken.

Bring the Sunshine in for Summer

Ahhh summertime…longer days and warmer weather, time to get outside and play. Now is the perfect time to bring some of that playfulness indoors.
During the summer months minimize and freshen interiors by pulling up heavy wool area rugs, throws, and tapestry pillows. Lay down a natural sisal rug or leave the floors bare. Lighten the area with white slipcovers and accent them by strategically placed bright colored pillows. An inexpensive idea for recovering pillows is to sew brightly colored napkins together.
Playful Enterprises
Infusing some of the new tangerine colors invites a playful element to interiors. You can accomplish this in simple ways; by combining pillows, candles and/or area rugs with tantalizing tangerine. Use tangerine on one accent wall for a fresh pop of color. If the room is small put it on two walls.
It is a great choice for a laundry room, because it gives a vibrant and refreshing ambience in an area where mundane tasks are carried out. A great combination is to mix it with sunflower yellow walls and add touches of deep surf blue. Personalize the room by adding your favorite wall quote and a colorful area rug to pull all of these colors together. Accessorize for a summer décor with straw hats, beach towels and beach bags.
Remember the Outdoors, too!
In the summer months accessorize not only your interiors, but also your exteriors. Infuse punches of color to your porch seating by adding more colorful pillows. Put down a brightly colored coordinating rug or welcome mat. Hang colorful beaded wind chimes and birdfeeders to the mix.
Create interest to your garden with papaya colored iron artwork (they will add color long after the blooms have faded). Mix lime green, yellow, and more surf blue by painting flower pots .
And, last but not least-bring in some of these cut flowers from the gardens for a beautiful and fragrant burst of color.
