Part of this first issue is dedicated to our Bonus Dad, Stan McWilliams, who just went home to heaven early Monday morning. We knew Bonus Dad was dying; he had cancer and had done the gamut of treatment over the last few years, never, ever complaining about this part of his life, not once. Lucky for us, we did get to share with Stan what he meant to us Sunday before he went home. Even though sadness fills our heart with Stan’s absence, we are at peace because we got to have the discussion, you know the one…if I could have just ONE more conversation, I would say…
This was part of our conversation:

Dear Bonus Dad,

We admire you, so much Stan, you followed your passion and your heart, and at the same time lived a life of joy and love. We hope to follow the example you have led your whole life.

Thank you, Stan, for blessing our lives with love, that great sense of humor and fun of yours, and for your protection of your family.

Thank you for being a great dad, husband, and friend.

You are always thought of with love in our hearts.

Friends of ours, Joe and Liz, are raising money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Daniel and I are making a donation to this charity by sponsoring 50-year-old Joe in running a 26.2 mile marathon in San Diego in June. Please, join us in sponsoring him by making the donation in honor of a loved one who has/had cancer. We are donating in honor of Stan McWilliams. Liz and Joe are trustworthy, incredible people, so, you can feel comfortable that your donation truly goes to an incredible cause.

It has been my goal to write, photograph, and create a venue which would allow us (the people who are not politicians, journalists, supposed “reporters,” and any others who say they represent our interests), we the people who live, work, love, pay taxes, have interests in living life well; to give us a voice. Living Life…Boomer Style Magazine will be highly interactive, with submissions from our readers, chat rooms, discussion boards, and over fifty different departments.

Also, to look at the good in humanity, the inspiring stories of “everyday?” people. Each person has an incredible story and this is a venue to share those stories. I don’t know about you, but I am tired of the news stations with their doom and gloom. Killings, rapes, burglaries, the economy is so bad, yet, more people than ever-I repeat EVER- in American history are working–(have jobs), but do we hear these things on the news? The masters tell us, we are what we look at, think about, and this dictates our actions. I choose to look at the good in humanity, the humor in life, and the abundance we have here on earth.

There will be over fifty different departments in Living Life…Boomer Style Magazine, ranging from Charities to Unsung Heroes, from Art to Travel and Entertainment. In the coming months there is much more to come. It’s exciting, after over two years of planning, developing the idea, and going to college to learn how to do this gig…it’s a tangible place to visit. There are many departments left to fill, photographers, columnists, reporters, and flash developers still to find…yet, here we are with readable content.

Our purpose is to have fun, a be upbeat, AND to have open conversations in a respectful manner about putting pressure on businesses to either treat us well, or we won’t give you our money. To support those businesses that do know how to treat us well, where we feel appreciated and to turn others onto them. To learn where to donate our time and money to help create a better world. Who is reputable, worthy, where does the money go, and what does the money do for humanity? We are tired of being ripped off and scammed. Many of us have quit giving because we don’t know who to trust.

The boomer’s have created a different way of living than their parents, as does every generation. Hopefully we will be the catalyst for our children and grandchildren to build on the good we have created, change the things we were careless, or blind about, and to pass on courage, strength, and passion for the good things in life.
