Chaos
Theory

Fun and Believable
By Nilda F. Andrews

Chaos Theory is a film that presents a scenario of what a compulsive list-making husband and father (or so he thinks) does to solve the dilemma in which he finds himself. He begins a journey to what he hopes will lead to a more rewarding and life changing experience.

Great Comedic Timing

The lead, Ryan Reynolds, has good comedic timing along with enough angst to make his character believable. Emily Mortimer, a favorite of many independent films, (Paris, je t’aime, Dear Frankie) brings to the role the right touches of a woman scorned and forgiving, loving wife and mother. Outward appearances, however, belie the fact she has a secret she is not even aware of.

Where is the Audience

OK, so where is the audience for this clever, funny, thought-provoking film. There has been no Hollywood buzz, no guest shots on the talk show circuit, no trailers, not even a bad movie review in the local papers. And my question is why? Admittedly, the set-up in the first ten minutes is a little slow. But then it kicks in and takes you on a roller coaster ride that is funny, emotional and in the end, very satisfying. I definitely recommend this film. But you’ll probably have to look for it on DVD since the production companies seem not to have had enough confidence in it to promote it.

Worthy of Your Time

It is an entertaining film worth seeing, especially for those of us who remember the vintage film noir movies of the 40s and 50s.
